This Week at AWANA - March 2 Edition

My goal the past several weeks has been to show the clubbers that the Israelites had several opportunities to obey and be blessed by God or disobey and suffer the consequences.

This week is no different. We are going to study three events that represent this idea again from Numbers 16, 20, and 21. We will look at the rebellion of Korah, Moses not trusting God, and the Bronze Serpent. We will also look at John 3:13-15 to show how the serpent is a picture of Christ.

Just as the Israelites had to trust in the method God had prepared to deliver the people from death and not try to do it themselves, we too look to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the method God has chosen to deliver us from the penalty and power of sin.

For a simple Cubbie activity, make a snake mobile from a paper plate. Draw on the plate an unbroken line from the outside rim in a spiral that winds its way to the center. Cut along this line and you should have a curly snake, which the children can color in. Because the snake will naturally curve around, it will be easy to wrap this around a stick to complete the visual aid.

Here is a lesson for Sparks and T&Ts about Moses Disobeying God.
Here is a lesson about the Bronze Serpent.
