Resources for Week 19 - February 1

What Is God’s Love for His People Like?
More than They Could Ever Deserve...
He will never stop loving them!

Our love for others changes. Sometimes we love others a lot. Sometimes we don’t love them very much. But God’s love for His people is not like that at all. It never changes. God loved His people before they loved Him. He loved them when they fi rst trusted in Jesus as their Savior. And He will go on loving them forever and ever. Nothing will ever be able to stop God from loving His people!

Hosea 2:18
“I will betroth you to me forever; I wil betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion.”

Betroth is a wedding word. It means to promise to belong to someone, like a bride and groom promise to belong to each other when they get married. Our Bible verse tells us that God betroths Himself to His people. For how long? FOREVER! And how does He promises to treat His people forever? He will treat them with righteousness and justice. That means He will always treat them in good and fair ways. AND, He will treat them in love and compassion. I bet you know what that means. It means He cares will always care for them with a heart full of pure and tender love. Isn’t God’s love for His people amazing!

What Is God’s Love for His People Like?
More than They Could Ever Deserve...
He uses their sadnesses for good!

Everyone has troubles. We all have times when we are sad or scared. Sometimes people are mean to us. Sometimes bad things happen to us. When bad things happen to God’s people, they keep trusting in Him. They know God loves them and that He is in control. They know that He promises to use every single trouble they have for their good and to show how wonderful God is. And one day, they will praise Him for the wonderful good things He did for them through even those very hard times.

Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

No one likes sad or bad things! But God gives His people this wonderful promise! He promises to use all the sad or bad things His people go through for their good. No matter how sad or how bad those things might be! How kind God is to do that! How powerful He is to do that!

What is God's love for His people like?
More than they could ever deserve...
He always takes care of them!

Everyone who trusts in Jesus as their Savior becomes one of God’s people. And not just His people, but His children! God becomes their Father in heaven. God is the best Father we can ever imagine. He is all wise. He always knows what is best for His children. He is always faithful. He always gives them what He promises them. He’s all powerful. He can always give His children everything they need and so much more. God’s children never need to worry. They know that God, their Father in heaven, is always with them; always taking care of them.

Scripture Verse: Psalm 42:2
“Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.”

God’s people cast their cares on the LORD. That is, they tell Him all their worries and needs and trust Him to take care of them, instead of just worrying about them. And what does God promise to do for His people? To sustain them! That means He will give them everything they need to live life His way. God promises that He will never fail His people! He will always bring them through even the hardest and saddest times! God’s love for His people is far more than they deserve!

What is God's Love for His People Like?
More than They Could Ever Deserve!
God Loved His People Before They Loved Him.

1 Chronicles 16:34 "The LORD's love endures forever."

Even before God had created the world, He loved His people. Even back then, He knew them, inside and out. He knew that they, like all people He would create, would rebel against Him. Yet even still, He loved them with the tenderest, deepest of loves. And though their sins meant they would deserve eternal punishment, He chose to set His love upon them in a special way. He chose to send Jesus at just the right time to pay for their sins. He chose that by the Holy Spirit, He would give them faith in Him and new hearts to love and obey Him. They would be His special people, a countless number from every language and people on earth, who would live to enjoy His fellowship and sing the praises of His amazing love and mercy forever.

Ephesians 1:4-5 “For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will.”

God Blesses All People with Many Good Gifts
God has given to all people many good gifts, whether they love and obey Him or not. He made this beautiful world full of His amazing creations for all to enjoy. He gives all people hearts to know and love Him and others. He gives them all minds to learn about. He gives them all bodies to do many different things and to explore the wonders of the world. He keeps the stars and planets moving. He provides the sun and rain, hot and cold, to grow the food we need. He keeps all living things alive each day. Every good thing that we have is a gift from God. He gave us these good gifts to enjoy, and to glorify Him. Everyone should praise God and thank Him for loving them through all the good things He gives them. God’s people should praise and thank God most of all. They enjoy the same good gifts as everyone else and far, far more. God is their heavenly Father. Jesus died to save them from their sins. The Holy Spirit lives inside them and helps them to love, obey and enjoy God. And one day, they will live perfectly happily, delighting in Him forever. These are the very best gifts of all.
